Privacy policy
Effective October 8, 2026
HurriMap shows hurricane forecasts and warnings. It is built to need as little about you as possible: no account, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking across other apps or websites. We do not sell or share your information.
Your place
You can set "My place" with a ZIP code, by pressing on the map, or with your device's location. Location is only read when you tap "Use my location." Your place is stored on your device so the app can show what each storm means there.
To work out those details, the app sends the place's coordinates to public government services: the National Weather Service (for your forecast office, local statements, weather radio stations and alerts) and NOAA's map services (for storm surge risk). Map tiles are loaded from mapping providers such as Esri, which see the area of the map you are viewing, as with any map app.
Warning alerts
If warning alerts are on and you have set a place, the app sends our alert server:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your place, rounded to about 100 meters, and a short label (such as "ZIP 33606") | To check whether a National Weather Service warning includes it |
| The National Weather Service zones for that place | Watches and warnings are issued by zone |
| A push notification token from Apple or Google | To deliver the notification to your device |
| Which kinds of alerts you switched on | To send only those |
We do not store your name, contact details, location history or anything else about you. Notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service or Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, which handle the token under their own privacy policies.
Removing it: turn off warning alerts or remove your place in the app, and your place is deleted from our server immediately. Registrations without a notification token are deleted automatically after a week. Uninstalling the app stops all notifications.
Apple Watch, Wear OS and widgets
Your place and settings are shared from your phone to your own watch and widgets on your devices. They download the same public storm data the app uses.
Subscriptions
HurriMap Pro is purchased through the App Store or Google Play. They process the payment; we never see your payment details. The app only checks whether a subscription is active.
Support messages
If you use the form on our support page, we store what you enter (your message, topic and device, and your name and email if you give them) on our server so we can read and answer it. We use it only for that. Messages are deleted after we've dealt with them, and in any case after one year.
To limit spam, the form counts messages per connection for one hour using a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address; the address itself is not stored.
This website
hurrimap.com uses no cookies, analytics, advertising or third-party scripts or fonts. Like any website, it is delivered through our hosting provider and Cloudflare, whose servers keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and reliability.
Children
HurriMap is a general audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Questions and requests
To ask about your information or have it removed, use the form on our support page and choose the "Privacy" topic.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
